We support patients in accessing Colorado Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) and federal FMLA so they can take the time they need for mental health treatment without undue financial or job stress. Colorado’s FAMLI program provides paid, job-protected leave benefits for eligible workers who need time off for their own serious health conditions, including mental health conditions that require ongoing treatment or supervision by a healthcare provider. Under FAMLI, qualifying Colorado workers may receive up to 12 weeks of paid leave per year to care for themselves for a serious health condition, which can include periods of mental health treatment when supported by appropriate medical documentation. FAMLI is designed to run concurrently with federal FMLA when the same qualifying reason applies. Unlike FMLA alone, which provides unpaid leave, FAMLI offers partial wage replacement while protecting your job. Most Colorado employees become eligible for FAMLI eligibility after earning at least $2,500 in wages in the previous calendar year, and job protection is available after 180 days of employment.
